The Loft Re-Opening Party

loftparty.jpgThe Loft celebrated its re-opening with music, dancing, and one lucky party-goer winning a fully furnished prefab. Friends, designers, and interior design afficionados packed the sim for a first glance at the re-opened and re-designed store, featuring new collections and a prefab section.

The celebration kicked off with music from chanteuse, Phemie Alcott, followed by the freestyle lyrical stylings of Kafka Dinzeo (pictured above), and a DJ set from duckyfresh Watanabe. Afterwards, guests were invited to tour the new store, which is now open for all to see, shop, and enjoy.

Stay tuned to the blog for new releases from The Loft coming soon!

Update: Combatting I.P. Theft

In our previous post Vanya was thanked for her part in getting Seven, her real life sister, to remove stolen LOFT textures.

We are now retracting any gratitude towards Vanya as there exists strong evidence to show that she has been pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes. Vanya has done this before and will continue to do this – especially if her victims continue to keep quiet.

Back in January, Vanya was caught selling – with full permissions – the sculpted wedge component from a prominent shoe designer’s portfolio of products. When she was caught she, like her sister, went into “Seven mode”, claiming she made the texture from scratch and offering to send files as proof. Well, when the files were sent there were no mistaking that the ones she had were ripped. The shoe designer let it go back then, thinking, ‘it was only a wedge, a single part of a shoe, so no big deal’.

Vanya claims that she is sorry for not being diligent in monitoring what was going on in her business, yet the wedge incident happened before theft from myself and Surf Couture. This incident clearly shows that her claims of “…. never having been thought to be involved with content theft” is dishonest. Despite what she says, this designer has come forward with logs that would prove otherwise. It is clear that Vanya, Seven and Brett are repeat offenders.

Combatting I.P. Theft

iprightsclogneutral2.jpgSome time ago it was brought to our attention that a resident was selling, not only furniture designs that looked dangerously close to Colleen’s work, but misappropriated copies of custom textures that were made specifically for Loft creations. These textures were never distributed outside of the business partnership.

She maintains that the texture work was wholly created by her. And, though the world is filled with unexplained phenomenon, the likelihood of two far-removed and separate people creating the same texture with the same exact wood grain patterns in the precise shade, color and hue using an identical Photoshop filter/effect process is highly unlikely. Not to mention the two others that happen to be the same as Colleen’s – same threading lines, same speckle patterning – everything. Coincidence? We think not.

Loft (left) vs. seVan (right)What the delinquent failed to account for are the many times, we, as a creative team, have been in Skype talking and helping one another by offering Photoshop tips, tricks and solutions for texture outcomes, such as the prominent wood one was stolen from Colleen. It’s very much a collaborative effort around here and that wood was a result of such a session.

To prove her innocence and clear her name she sent The Loft designers the .psd file that she claimed would show that the work was hers, however, it’s quite apparent that the content from the file she sent and the texture she actually uses in-world are two completely different fruits. Colleen’s texture is simulated wood and was custom-made from scratch. Her .psd files contain a photographic reference. Continue reading ‘Combatting I.P. Theft’

The Loft on SLCN.tv

theoftwordpress_event_slcntv_thatsslife.jpg

This week The Loft designers had an opportunity to speak with SLCN.tv’s “That’s SLife” host duckyfresh Watanabe in our temporary store location. The store was featured as the show’s Hot Spot of the week.

The Loft designers talk about plans for the new sim as well as some independent projects.

Changes to Product Permissions

Due to issues that have arisen with The Loft products being knocked off by several residents (including Robert Adelaide) within recent months we have decided to sell all furniture products as transfer only.

As The Loft has grown our texture work in particular has become increasingly custom. We wish to preserve our creations as best as we can given the ability of pirates to recreate others work prim for prim.

The Loft Becomes a Sim

The Loft began in December 2005 as the brainchild of Colleen Desmoulins. Since its inception the brand has transformed and grown to accommodate the style of additional designers.

In 2008, The Loft has expanded into a sim dedicated to contemporary and eclectic home furnishings to compliment a luxurious second lifestyle.

Look for more great home wares as well as fully furnished pre-fabs in The Loft’s portfolio.
